Hi, we’re Mark and Ania
A little about us
We met in 2022 and quickly realised how much we had in common creatively. Photography, film, art and music have all become part of what we build together. Our backgrounds are different. Mark is self-taught, while Ania studied at art school, but we share a very similar eye for detail and the kind of images we want to create. We inspire each other, challenge each other and bring that shared approach into every wedding we photograph.
We want wedding days to feel natural. We’ll help when needed, offer direction when it is useful and keep things moving, but we never want the photography to take over the experience.
Hi, I’m Mark
I first got into photography in the 90s, learning composition, shooting film and developing photographs in a darkroom. I’m completely self-taught, which probably explains why I still like figuring things out for myself and testing ideas until they work.
I started Gordon Baxter Photography in 2014, and weddings quickly became the part I enjoyed most. They bring together everything I like about photography: real people, unpredictable moments and all the small interactions that make each day feel completely different.
On a wedding day, I’m calm, observant and usually watching for what is about to happen, not just what is happening directly in front of me. I’ll give direction when it helps, but I never want the photography to take over the day. I’m there for you, not to make the wedding about me.
And this is Ania
Ania studied art, so she came into photography from a different direction to me. She notices composition, colour and small visual details instinctively, but we still tend to be drawn to the same kind of moments and images.
She has a calm way of working and is especially good at spotting what is happening around the main event, whether that is a reaction during the ceremony, a quiet exchange between family members or something happening just outside the frame.
Working together has pushed both of us creatively. We share ideas, challenge each other and often come away from a wedding with photographs that feel consistent, even though they were taken by two different people.
Our creativity doesn’t stop at weddings
Together, we also run FORMA, a small creative studio working with musicians and artists on music videos, visual identity, photography and content.
It gives us space to experiment, learn new techniques and work on projects that feel very different from weddings. A lot of that creative energy naturally finds its way back into the way we photograph and film.
